LIQUID EMULSION COATING AND PRINTING WORKSHOP £195
This one-day course will teach you how to coat a variety of papers, including recycled materials, in our darkroom. You will then have the opportunity to print from your negatives or produce photograms from objects that you bring to the workshop. Unlike traditional photographic printing, working with liquid emulsion produces unique, one-off creations that are textured and ask to be touched.
This session is aimed at the photographer who has experience of working in a darkroom and is looking to expand their practice and apply their creativity in new directions. Once you have completed this workshop, you will be able to return to darkroom for our occasional supervised liquid emulsion coating and printing sessions, where you will have the opportunity to continue with this practice.
Participants must have basic darkroom printing skills.
All materials are included in the session.
Polaroid lift £100
Using instant photographs you will take with a Polaroid camera, participants in this workshop are then shown how to dissect and manipulate the print to create beautiful, dream-like, unique prints on a variety of surfaces (paper, card and wood).
No previous photography or darkroom experience is necessary.
All materials and access to Polaroid cameras included in the fee.

Cyanotype Fabric Printing £95
Come and learn how to print your own unique cyanotype bag and T shirt!
Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic techniques and is where we get the word 'blueprint'. The light-sensitive liquid can be painted onto a variety of surfaces.
Catriona Gray will guide you through coating your own test sheets of paper, where you can experiment with photogram techniques and composition and learn how to expose them using our UV exposure unit.
You will have the opportunity to coat and expose one bag (which we will supply) and a plain white T shirt (that you should bring yourself, so that it fits!). Feel free to bring your own objects (which have interesting shapes or translucency) that might work well as a photogram, or you can experiment with cut paper, leaves and objects available at the darkroom.
When you're finished you'll have your own totally unique and handmade fabric items, printed in a wonderful shade of blue, that everyone will ask you about!
Materials included in the fee - Paper, Tote Bag & Chemistry. Bring your own white T shirt.
