Our latest LightWorks soirée just before Christmas was a huge success, with darkroom members gathered to discuss working practices and projects in progress. Presenting to a group is a great opportunity to receive affirmation that what is produced in a vacuum resonates with others.
Martina Habulin brought in her lovely Wista 45 field camera and some gorgeous landscapes shot on it. She explained how it has forced her to be very disciplined in her approach to picture taking. Charles Cave presented his intimate street portraits captured during Purim 2020 on the verge of the COVID lockdown. Britt Lloyd showed four exquisite prints made on Foma warmtone fibre paper. The group were particularly taken by examples from her ongoing series photographing the backs of crop-headed men and men’s legs. The dancer theme was carried on by Manuela Fraiolo with her sculptural images of dancers melding with trees and flowing fabrics. Rounding off the enjoyable salon, Eve Ousby explained how capturing eye contact in her photographs is helping her overcome this awkward social interaction and resulting in a series of intense intimate portraits.
All present agreed LightWorks is a great way to interact with like-minded photographers.
Looking forward to the next one on March 9th. Book here
