Last month, Charles Cave - one of darkroom’s longest standing members - was selected by the BBH advertising agency to be part of their Unsigned show. Bartle Bogle Hegarty is a British global advertising agency, founded in 1982 by British ad men John Bartle, Nigel Bogle, and John Hegarty, with offices in London, New York City, Singapore, Shanghai, Mumbai, Stockholm and Los Angeles. Unsigned is a quarterly event where they showcase the work of emerging artists working in the industry.
“It was a great honour to be one of the ten selected from many applicants and the event was full of guests! The agency kindly took care of printing and mounting some of my colour portraits, and seeing them in the flesh on a wall was very special. It certainly whet my whistle for displaying more prints in the near future!”
Charles, whose day job is bass player with White Lies, has recently been developing a side hustle photographing upcoming new faces for modelling agencies. Six of these images were exhibited in the well-attended show and this work is now evolving into self-generated sessions, that he hopes will be published as editorial features.
These are a selection of Charles recent portraits and you can see more of his stunning street photography here.
